You get a dragon. If you go the friendly route, yes you do get unique stuff for it. You can "build" baby dragons at starbases with a dragon egg hatchery. And the grown dragon becomes controllable. You become a space dragon breeding ground ahaha. It's great if you run a spritualist/unity based empire.
