Remington Sportsman 48. I was in a local pawn shop, which is usually a mistake, but I love seeing used guns because some interesting stuff comes through those places. Anyway, this Remington auto sitting in the corner behind the counter caught my eye and I thought I recognized it as a Sportsman 48, which it turned out to be.
Welcome to Shotgunworld!! I have several of each, and yes, the barrels are interchangable. The only difference between the 48 & 11-48 is that the 48 is a 3 shot and the 11-48 is a 5 shot. The attached pictures are of my Remington Sportsman 48, 12 guage, 2 3/4 or shorter shells. It is equipped with a Cutts/Lyman Adjustable Comp. Tube. The checkering appears to be in good shape except for one small scuff spot on the bottom of the fore arm. The rest of the stock has a few light scratches from age/use as expected.Remington

What originally drew me to the gun was the 26” vent rib IC barrel which I thought was interesting as most of the older shotguns I seem to find are the 30” full choke variety. Get a 12-gauge brush and wrap some fine steel wool around it and chuck it in a power drill. Run it in the chamber for a minute. Now get a 12-gauge bore mop and oil it and add some Flitz to the mop.
